The American Modern Opera Company (AMOC) has commissioned a new song cycle, the echoing of tenses, to premiere at the Ojai Music Festival, on June 10, 2022. The large-scale work for voices (sung, spoken, recorded), violin, keyboards, and electronics will be performed by AMOC members Paul Appleby (tenor), Miranda Cuckson (violin), and Anthony Cheung (keyboards), with sound design by David Bird. Texts include poems by Victoria Chang, Arthur Sze, Jenny Xie, Cathy Park Hong, Monica Youn, Li-Young Lee, and Ocean Vuong, with several poets participating in the performance.
